Thriving with MIP to Serve the Underserved
Community Action Agency of Butte County, Inc. (CAABCI) uses MIP Fund Accounting® to account for the intricacies of nonprofit accounting—something QuickBooks can’t do.
“In our environment a QuickBooks is just too flexible,” explains CFO Dana Campbell. “We could easily do things with our funds and grants that are flat-out wrong and never know it, which could get us into a lot of trouble.”
MIP allows the organization to manage its nearly 30 different funds and its $7.5 million budget. Plus, MIP helps the organization stay compliant with nonprofit regulations.
“A main advantage of MIP is we’re able to adapt to each funding stream’s unique conditions,” Campbell said. “This is vital because funding sources typically have diverse requirements, and even interpret regulations differently, sometimes within the same federal department.”
Key takeaways include:
- How CAABCI uses MIP to manage and oversee its funds
- How MIP’s modules help CAABCI tell its financial story
- Why CAABCI uses MIP today
